Over the past few weeks, I've noticed my engine rocking more than usual with throttle changes. The tranny and engine mounts appear fine - the holes in the elastomer are a little squshed, but no rips or anything. So my questions are:
Does the roll restrictor wear out?
Do the mounts wear out/loosen up over time while appearing fine externally?
Is it possible to tell which mount, if any, is worn out?
TIA.

it's probably the rear one, the one you can see hanging down just looking under the car. Yes, they can look ok from the outside...but the rubber tends to shrink with age, it's probably moving around inside the metal casing. I knew mine was shot, didn't look too bad to me until i took it off and saw all the play in it!

How much was the new rear mount?

I would recommend replacing the stab-o-shock with a solid engine torque brace. The brace can be purchased at performancefords.com. It drastically reduced wheelhop, especially when combined with energy motor mount inserts.

Does it help with anything else besides wheelhop?

Isn't that kind of a track-only piece, though? Does the engine move at all with a solid brace?

I went to the site and they have two different braces. The Street link has rubber or polyurethane bushings while the Track Link has metal bushings.

The new rear mount was lik e$40 from bat, plus $20 for the urethane inserts for the front mount. I'm not sur ei'd replace the stab o shock with a solid.

Is it a whole new mount that replaces the old one? Or is it an insert that gets pressed into the old housing?
I just put in the ES insert for the front mount. It certainly helped. It feels smoother shifting now. Especially from a standing start in first gear. Well worth the few bucks it cost.

Is it really worth it to get the torque brace (street link version) from performance fords or would this make the ride significantly rougher? Can we hear from some people with personal driving experience, pro's and con's?
