'95 tour se mtx 160,000 with traction control
I was on my way to my new job to fill out some paperwork and as soon as I got off the highway the tour started acting up again... The rpms would rise, hang, then fall all while the clutch was pushed in. I thought maybe something was stuck so I was tearing around hoping it would get better... WRONG!
After I did that and came to a stop light the rpms wouldn't come down and were slammed at 7,000 and there was nothing I could do about it... I quickly turned off the car while sitting at the light. I thought I would be able to start it up again with out having that problem. WRONG!
I turned it off again and popped the hood... The TB wouldn't close all the way on its own so I gave it a little nudge. All was fine and I got out of the intersection.
I again drove it like I do all the time (kinda rough) and I noticed when I push the gas in there is a little "tick" feeling after I push the pedal in about 1-2 inches... Only one tick and it seems if I push the pedal in past that "tick" feeling that is when the rpms start to do what they want...
P.S. Traction control works fine and I have replaced the cable between the TC and TB...
Suggestions anyone? Thanks - JOE

Throttle body assembly is sticking.
My '00 SVT had one replaced a couple of years ago. when it was cold, it had a "hardspot" in the throttle pedal.

You may be able to fix it with a simple cleaning. I've got an unused can of Berryman's B12 lying around if you need it, and I've got two hands that can turn a wrench. Who knows, maybe you have enough carbon build up that a TB cleaning will give you a nice performance boost.

im with hetfield...time to clean your throttle body it sounds like to me and prolly the egr ports behind it, if it hasn't been done recently
sticking throttle is something i would notice too after the 1 1/2 hr freeway ride to my moms house...the throttle would 'catch' when first stepping on it after stopping at the light on the offramp
clean the previous mentioned parts and try to clean up the throttle cable too if u can...
last time i did the clean acouple months ago and it didn't quite take care of the throttle this time as well as it did the first time i cleaned it...in the future i plan on replacing the throttle cable altogether

as I recall there was a recal on 95 models for the throttle sticking.
was it completed on you car?
I know the 95 with TC, like my fathers car and mine, the gas pedal is lower then the brake pedal, but on a 99 w/o TC they are the same height and I hit both a few times....

I know for sure there was no recall done for my tour... I have checked with the dealership for all my recall work and they said that I have all of them done already. Ok, so the throttle body is sticking I understand. But check this out: I took my car to the college for the shop guys to fix this dang misfire thing I just can't get rid of... they didn't find the misfire but changed my oil and he said he cleaned the TB because there was a lot of ?tar? in it. Well, I found out that FORD puts a gel type substance on the TBs to prevent this sticking and because this guy cleaned it, there is no more gel on it.... They said that I would have to continuously spray carb cleaner in it to keep the sticking down to a minimum or buy a new TB... morons dang

The "gel" is actually Teflon, and if they uses a Teflon safe cleaner it'll still be there. But, consider this: how good a job did the Teflon do if the TB was as seriously gummed up as yours was? Just add a simple cleaning to the list of preventative maintenance items to do once a year or so.
