Autoweek

This spy pic has been out for a while. A little elaboration is now available.

Here??s a little more on that Ford Focus with the giant hood scoop we showed you a while back. Sources tell us the car our spy shooter caught in the desert was ??Project Panama,? a turbocharged version of the standard Focus 2.0-liter four.
We??re told the target for the hot Focus is the Dodge SRT-4, which will pack a 215-hp turbo 2.4-liter engine when it arrives early next year.

No specific word from Ford Special Vehicle Team, but we??re assured they??re doing what it takes to keep competitive in the market.

I will be looking for the factory upgrade kit.

I got faked out. I thought it was an update. If you go to the Autoweek article you will see the timedate is actually whatever your system time is. Tricky.

I think Piranha was the name they were originally going to give the SVT Focus. Could be wrong though.

Mods: Feel free to erase.

215hp won't touch the SRT-4. They better go back to the drawing board.

That 215hp number is referring to the SRT-4's rating from the factory.

I'm not sure if you all know what the srt-4 is putting down so I'll just tell you anyway. The car is rated for 215hp and 250tq. Now most people think that is at the crank but the car was dynoed by someone other then dodge. The numbers the dodge gave were under rated and turn out to be more then that not by much but enough and it was at the wheel. Also they ran the car in the 1/4 and it was pulling low 14's. Just a heads up on one of the cars that will be kicking my ass on the street.

Well im just glad to here there buliding on the 2.0 plat form and not the new 2.3 PZEV. I look for this to be diappointing just as the FSVT was. I really dont think the SVT has the foggiest clue how to bulid a 4Cyl but we will see. If its no in the 250HP range turboed i will conisder it a failure.
