I had a question regarding the dash recall. I'm having some minor rippling around the defroster duct, but after reading some other posts abou things being worse than when they were taken in, I'm hesitant to take mine in. Does anyone have a picture of theit dash so that I can see what exactly the problem is and what people would consider bad?

I can't post a picture (not sure how to use one of those hosting services), but if you PM me your email address I can email you one. It's bad--the defroster vent popped out months ago, and the front of the vent opening (nearest the steering wheel) is bent up about five inches and is touching the windshield (keeping it from warping up farther). I can't see my Virginia inspection stickers on the windshield, the wipers, and it blocks a little view of the road. I've got to find time to take it in, but I understand it takes two appointments, one to "assess" the severity of the problem and a second to repair it, and I haven't had time to deal with it, as I'm working two jobs at the moment, have a kid in Little League to drive around to games, am trying to get back into graduate school, etc., etc....

Mine wasn't warped that bad but the dealership replaced it anyway, and the new one is much better. If you get it replaced don't take it out of their shop until you make sure all of the clips and screws under the dash on the floor are in place. On mine, the next day after taking it I had to go back because the carpet and the center console were not reattached. The recall ends in August so hurry if you are going to do it. If Ford is willing to fix something, even as minor as a slightly warped dash, let em.
