First, I have 16" wheels (its an SVT) but I'll just assume you made a typing mistake. Second, the Tire Rack Lists appropriate wheel widths for the 225/50/16 tire as anywhere between 6-8". My '99 SVT wheels fit within that range. Lastly, many others have had good luck with these exact tires with these exact wheels in the past. Therefore your statement that "225's are going to make noise whether you like it or not" is not true. However, I do agree with your statement that the 225s may have not been the best choice. Probably the worst part of my descision was to buy crappy Yokos when I was relatively happy with the KDWs in the first place.
