No.. not a kids story.. just a FYI.. My car started ticking like 2 weeks ago.. I did a search and I read everything from "don't worry about it".. to "IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!!!".. well I brought it to the dealer.. they replaced the lifters, as it was comming from the pass. side near the firewall.. that didn't fix it.. they said "Come back if it gets worse".. well worse happened today.. was driving to work.. and the tick became a clack.. that transformed to a knock.. knock is bad mmmmkay.. Took it to Mr. Haines (I'm fortunate to have his place 5 minutes from where I work).. yeah.. prolly a spun bearing or whatever.. big $$$ although I caught it before it siezed the engine thank god..

Reason for this post: Help others when they get the tick.. have the mechanic (whoever you bring it to, Ford or otherwise) drop the pan (according to TH) and take a look. Also, to thank Mr. Haines for all his help, patience and detailed explanations.. (I even got a hands on demonstration of what has probably happened smile ..).. So anyways.. thanks for the help, and I hope this brings some insight the next time someone else has this lil engine problem..

Paul

My ticking lasted a few weeks. Thought it was an exhaust leak. Than on it's last day, the sound got much louder and ended on a grinding note.
