And they pass the same green VW bug at least 7 times! Still gets my vote though...
Actually, it is a movie standard to often show the same scene from several angles. The Green Bug is "passed" about 4 times as we see the bad guys in the Charger pass it, Bullit passes it, then a long distance shot as both cars go by, and then as both cars corner you see it in the background as we see the two cars corner.
The scene was very welled filmed. In most movies where you see the pursuer/persued cars passing the same vehicle, the scenes are often widely seperated, showing that the editor was splicing the movie however the hell he wanted to make it look "exciting". The chase scene in Bullit was flawlessly planned out much like John Frankenhiemer's work in The French Connection, Ronin and his other films.
Oh, and it is an excellent movie for a film viewer that has half a brain. Granted, it isnt the sugar coated plotless drek that fills theatres today, but that is when storytelling was more than special effects and tits.
For an absolutely crazy car chase movie, check out the ORIGINAL Gone In 60 Seconds. Bad acting, but the main chase scen is over 40 minutes long and they trash the [censored] out of a Mach 3 'stang. The smaller chases in the movie are also well done.
