Now I've read CAI's will only increase HP. But are you actually LOSING TQ or just not gaining any?

To gain HP you must gain torque. (it's mathematical crap) The CTA intake is not the best down low intake but it's the only real intake made for our cars right now. You still gain torque, it's just in certain parts of your powerband. In any case you'll go faster with it.

That is with most mods....moves your power and torque around the powerband.

Well i havent seen the numbers on the CTA but on the focus. The full length CAI does not reduce torque they just dont give low end torque. They give more higher end torque, The short Ram style which is what the CTA is provides the low end torque but not the the top end. Now assuming since both are zetecs the same should apply. However the Tours are diffrent in there RPM range so this may be the reason the CTA doesnt follow suit when compared to the Focus findings. Or at leasty thats my theroy on the tour.

Not exactly. The CTA provides more mid to top end power than other intakes such as the homemade one I built. Yet my homemade intake had better low end torque. If it makes you go faster, it's giving you torque somewhere. You can not have horse power without torque.

All intakes will only add from mid to highend... its hard if not impossible to add much if any HP or TQ at lower rpms from more air, maybe if you throw more fuel.. but thats getting technical there.

when I first put in my CTA intake last night it felt like I lost 30 HP on the low end...then the intake would just kick in

guess my car needed to get used to it...now I just have to work out the other kinks
