Tried the various methods. No deal..so took it to the tire shop, an independent one, been around for years , since I needed an alignment anyway.I believe they used a big hammer, along with having a hoist to put the vehicle up where a good swing was allowed. The 98 SE alloys they put on have dressed up the 95 Contour quite
nicely. It looks like a completely different car.Previously I had the plain steel rims, no hubcaps.
Thanks for your replies.
Thanks Tony D for the wheels.

We had this all the time in the shop where I used to work. Just had to get a big @$$ rubber hammer and beat on that puppy till they come off. The ones that were the most fun were the F150's and larger trucks. Took some time beating on the tires to get some of them off...

if a wheel becomes seized on, or amytime a wheel is installed, clean as much corrosion off of the wheel's mating surfaces as possible.

then apply a film of grease or anti-seize compound to both the wheel and the hub at all places they contact, but do not put grease on the wheels studs, they are designed to be torqued dry. Doing this will prevent them from seizing again.

A happy ending except for your son, who must have lost a little weight by now. I'd start feeding him again when he hits 200. smile
