Does anybody else have this problem. When I stomp on the gas , the car will smll like eggs ! BAdly , its terrible. I had the Cat convertor checked and its not that. It does it when the car is under a severe load or acceleration.

If the car is running rich, it can cause raw fuel to reach the cat(s) and cause the odor your describing. There are 3 cats on the V6. Any CELs? A weak O2 sensor will cause a lean reading to the PCM which will then richen up the mixture to compensate. Too much gas = sulfer smell from cats.

My new cars have all done it for the first 8K-10K miles. Smells that way when I test drive cars at the dealerships and open them up, like the IS300.

Seems fairly normal to me, but how old is the car?

its a 98 with 75,000 on it. At 20,000 the CEL came on. Ford fixed it. Right after the warranty expired it came on again. Then ford said it was a dirty EGR . And was a maintenance issue not covered by warranty. It cost me $296 to have fixed. Well I no longer have had a CEL, but she has always smelled like
eggs.

Hmmm, I dunno then, shoots down my theory. shocked I've never had the problem after at most 10K miles so I always figured it was something to do with burning off some of the material in the cat.

Still sounds like an O2 sensor problem to me. I've had several go out on me over the 3 years I've owned the car.
