...talk about a bad day...

Started with a speeding ticket this morning...then girlfriend decides we should see other people...just a bad day at work...then my clutch decides to mess up. frown

Anyways, I just had a new Grizzly clutch put in about 2 months ago along with pressure plate, relaease bearing/slave cylinder. Today on my way home from work just as I was pulling into town my clutch pedal sinks all the way to the floor. I was able to drive it home but it was to say the least difficult. It engages when the pedal is almost to the floor and it only engages about 50% of the time.

Dont know if this could be related but ever since the new clutch was put in there has been a squeaking/clicking noise coming from the clutch pedal whenever it would engage in a gear.

I got lucky on the clutch installation...my trans was out for the 3rd gear syncro replacement and they put the clutch in at no charge. But I really dont need a $1000+ repair bill.

I'm sure the dealership will say it Grizzly's fault and Grizzly will say it was a bad install on Fords part. Either way I'll probably get screwed.

I'm going to attempt to drive it to the dealership in the morning...just gonna pray I make it.

Bad install or did I toast the Grizzly clutch in only 1000 miles?

Any help would be appreciated. smile
EDIT: 99 SVT if it makes a difference

Is it a hydraulic clutch? Maybe needs fluid?
Just a thought.

Look at the hydraulic lines to see if there is something leaking. If no leaks are evident, try bleeding the clutch hydraulic system. It could also be a bad clutch master or a new defective slave. I really hop there is nothing wrong with the clutch itself. If bleeding doesn't help, you may need to go back to the shop that did the installation.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm calling a tow truck this morning to get it up to the dealership. I went out to the car this morning and there was nothing. I can push the clutch to the floor with my pinky finger...really.

I could not get the car to engage in a single gear. Very frustrating...Ford dealership had my car for over a week for 3rd gear syncro replacement (under warranty)

Now what I'm really worried about. Just say it was a bad install and the Ford dealership messed up. Would they cover the install under a certain warranty even though the clutch is aftermarket?

I just hope its no another 'trans out' as Terry calls it frown

Thanks for the help and when I talk to them I'm going to tell them about your suggestions.

just thought I'd give an update and see if this sounded right to you guys.

The tech believes its the clutch pedal master cylinder. Does this sound right to you all? He went ahead and ordered the part and is going to try and put it in today. He said I shouldn't be out more than $100. I really hope this is the problem. Sound right to you guys? smile

Only sounds right 1) If its leaking fluid 2) If its drawing in air ( the clutch master is a plastic cylinder)... wink

it was leaking some fluid. I did not notice it until they towed it yesterday. The fluid was black and was dried up on the concrete in the garage.
confused

well, slave cylinder is bad and needs to be replaced = trans pulled = mucho $$$.

A new Grizzly slave cylinder was put in with the new clutch less than 1,000 miles ago and it has already failed. Grizzly is not helping any except if they find out the slave cylinder did go buy they'd buy me a new one. For them to decide that I have to send it to them. Too much of a hassle I think. Will not pay for labor cost. The thing that costs so much money.

My tech did keep my old slave cylinder which is in great shape so we're going to put that one back in. Now he can go ahead and get started on the car tomorrow instead of having to wait for a part.

My car has been at the Ford dealership 20 of the last 32 days...looks like 3 or 4 more.

Just thought I'd give an update if anyone cares.

Hmmm an ohh so familiar conversation. I will bet money that the next one fails also. Nobody cares to hear the solution. Just keep buying clutchs maybe you will ask after the next slave goes bad.

I talked to terry about and he also has had the same problem. The problem lies within the slave cylinder. There is a diffrence between a zetec slave and duratec slave cylinder. Just think of as an accordian tube the pushes out out and retracts in. The zetec one has less travel inwards not letting all the pressure go onto the clutch pack the way I understand it. But has more travel outwards causing it to push further than it should. In turn rupturing the accordian tube. My clutch was on back order and I figured that they just threw the wrong slave in. . I got my clutch from ram they are sending me a whole new set and I am suppose to send them the old one back and they will reinburse me if they find that they sent me the wrong part. I am also going to throw my labor bill in the box also
Your saying I was sent the wrong slave cylinder???
