Well, Roadrunner, what part of my post didn't you understand??? I don't mean to be an ass but that's how I am reading your response. As I remember, this "recall" did not affect ALL 96 Contours. Maybe you thought that was the case because ALLDATA lists it as a general recall. In fact, you can put your VIN number in Fords website to see if your vehicle is affected by any outstanding recalls. My car is not affected by this "recall" and I did not receive a "recall" notification. I believe the "recall" had to do with CERTAIN 95-97 cars that were registered in states where corrosion of the springs would be more of a problem. In fact, this really is not a recall but an extension of the warranty. I did not receive a letter with regard to the extension of my warranty. With that said, call Ford to see if I am off base here, I don't think I am, but then again, I have been wrong before.
