There is no decent "true" cold air intake for out cars. Your best bet is whats listed above.

So, the BAT cold air Filter Kit is not a true cold air intake? I thought that to be true cold air, it had to draw air from outside the engine compartment. I thought that is what this did by the looks of it. Am I wrong?

This is getting into a touchy area now.... You can run hoses to a few spots, but the hose size and bends really limit the amount of air flow. A cold air package can 'help' bring in some cooler external air, but it will only be a portion of what the engine needs at any higher RPMs. You might use it to help keep the cool side of your heat shield cooler, but what ever you do, please don't call it 'ram air'

Ok, so I'm buying the K&N cone filter and I know I'll need to make a heatshield and get an adapter. As I am new to this realm of automobile ownership, I am confused on a couple of issues. After reading past threads, etc., I have noticed that there are several types of adaptors for different types of mods relating to intake as well as different types of heatshield material. My questions:

1) What type of adapter do I need? Is it the MAF gasket or the MAF adapter.
2) Will I also need the IAT relocation kit?
3) What is the best heatshield material and in what area needs to be shielded?
4) Where do I put the heatshield and how so you secure it and to what?
and finally..........
5) How do you actually go about replacing the stock intake and putting in the filter, etc.? I couldn't find a how to or a thread on this so if there is one excuse me, I'm an idiot. Thanks for your patience with me and for any help ya'll could give me.

There are tons of posts on this subject, many dif. ideas w/ pics.

Use "search" for air filters, heat shield, induction. Read and learn. You'll also find out where to get all the parts and how much they cost.

Heres a decent pic of the setup mentioned.

Parts Needed
1) The K&N filter: $33
2) The Heatshield: DTEC Tuning Heatshield
3) The MAF Adapter & Gasket:SP Motorsports
(dependig on year of car) 4) The IAT reloction kit

TO answer your questions

1)Both
2)see #3 above
3)See pic for the heatshield
4)" "
5) 1) Unscrew the bolts connecting the MAF to the stock airbox. 2) removind the stock airbox. 3) Bolt new MAF gasket between the MAF and the new MAF Adapter. 4) Slide the K&N flter over the adapter and screw the clamp till the filter is on the MAF adapter good.(If you got the heatshield fro dtec tuning, I believe by the pics on thier website that there is a adapter built onto the opening f the heatshield.)

I just put it in my car with a K&N Panel filter and kept the stock air box. Stock air box is the best heat shield!
Took a little moding as I had to keep that damn Baffle/muffler to the IAC. Without it moosing was always there and bad.
