Sounds like a good idea, but like I said since I don't have self-serve I'm kind of at the mercy of the attendant. What I do now is give them an exact dollar amount rather than just say "fill it up."

Usually I will get out and finish filling the tank myself. Normally they don't care even though I'm not supposed to do it. But I like to get the full tank, ya know.

Here's the script from an Oasis report on my 98 SVT. Don't know what year yours is.
"FIELD SERVICE ACTIONS
01M04 - Caution: may not need repair; service only if concern is present. Please refer to Dealer letter for program coverage.
Fuel Pipe Filler Valve Assembly - additional coverage to 10 years service or 100,000 from warranty start date, whichever occurs first.

Sometimes good, sometimes bad
Sometimes hate it, mostly love it

98 SVT - took in to local dealer for repair.
Filled up good once or twice, now it's back!

They did the work free of charge. I guess I'll
have to take it in again...

I read somewhere on this site that another fix is to ram a flexible something or other down the filler pipe and destroy the valve. That sounds like a better fix to me than putting it in the Dealer's hands!

Yeah I've read that too, but the valve is there
for a reason correct? The dealer seems to be one
of the better than the horror stories I hear on the boards!
