Hey guys, I am installing a new set of gutted pre-cats....I call them "more modified exahust manifolds" as I polished the inside and out side as best i could. I wrapped it in Exahust wrap, and sprayed them with a High temp silicon protectant....
My question is, is there any easier way to remove the manifolds besides the How Too????? Mind you I am doing an UIM/LIM cleaning too....so the bolts to the Exahust manifold may be more accessible....ANd ideas?? Suggestions?

The front is simple. The rear is complex. A jack and jackstands with over a 2' lift. 3' extensions and two universals for the one closest to the firewall. Remove the alternator bolts. Nothing is too accessable from up top except the oxygen sensor connection.

Exactly what Hoosier said. Front is cake. The rear is a PITA. I recommend air tools and gear wrenches. It really does not take "very" long. ~3hrs with the above tools. ~5hrs without. tips... Don't work on a hot engine.

Please explain/describe, not sure what these are; although I'm thinking brake/pipe wrench - box wrench with slot(like crowsfoot).

A gear wrench is a crescent wrench that also acts like a ratchet.
A "real" gearwrench flat and skinny and can get into tight places that a ratchet can not.

Thanks, here they are offered by my local supplier: gear wrench
I had erroneously been thinking of what they call flare(aka brake/pipe) wrench: flare wrench

I was about to start on pulling my exhaust manifolds off tonight. I went and priced out gear wrenches today, but since they were 20 a pop, I thought I should see if I need both 15 and 13mm in a gear wrench?
For the front one, is it easier after that coolant tube is out of the way? I was checking it out and it seems like a PITA with out an extra set of eyes, thinking that doing everything from underneath the car would be easiest...... any words of wisdom? I'll give it a good go tomorrow for sure, but I'll be doing it solo.
