Presumably this post by Terry Haines refers to the acid eating comment above.

In my own two recent wp failures cones were fine but impellers were trashed.

There is some difference in method between years and atx/mtx. My own cars; no need for jack, battery not removed nor hoses disconnected. Pump w/o housing re & re from below, thermostat not changed.

stock CD on LS, cass on LX
spoiler, tinted windows on LS only
4 wheel discs on LX only
All other available options on both

horseydug... same here. my first failure, cone was fine, blades were gone without a trace.
