How high were the RPMs when you did your neutral drop?

Since I don't have a tach yet I am not exactly sure. But I don't think it could have been higher than 3,000 to 3,500 RPM. The first time i did it was just by accident though, I was revving it at my friend in front of me at a light(he has a 99 mustang gt with full exhaust upgrade and NO CATS). And then the light turned green, so I slammed it back into drive and spun the tires even going down hill. After I did that I had to try it again and do it better.

Mine lasted 90K miles. Then the local shop punched a hole in it while replacing my control arms...really. So I'm getting a replacement one installed (on their dime) Monday or Tuesday.

Read the tech articles, not the OLD, outdated owners manuals. Mercon V has been back-dated. One can find this info on most oil company's web pages. Read the back of a bottle of Mercon V next time you see one at the parts store. 100% compatable. A Chevron engineer told me Mercon V protects the ATX much better. Flows better when cold. Withstands torque converter pressure longer. Works the same as Mercon but with added life and protection. Those that say not to use it are not up on current information.
Type F is different kind of animal altogether. Adding Mercon or Dexron to one of these will end its life fast! Same with adding type F to a unit requiring Mercon/Dexron. Drag racers many years ago used to do this to make the ATX slam gears harder for better ETs. Who cares about the bands and clutch packs, I want to win!
