I am in MD right outside of DC and my daily drive is a 1 hour (each way commute to rockville mostly highway with a little backroads before I get to the highway) and my typical speed is about 65-100 (depends on the cars in front of me) and I get about 24 MPG (I have the complete stats at home but nothing I have done seemed to change them much (switching to mobil 1 did not make any difference that I noticed in my gas mileage unlike what other people have shown) my highest I ever got was about 26 (not sure what I did that time but I think it was all highway driving) and I have a 2000 V6 MTX.

I usually get between 23-26 this time of year, depending on my driving. That usually includes bouts of shifting at redline and highway cruising at about 75.

I usually get around 24-26 mpg with my mixed driving. I actually got the 28mpg on the sticker a couple of times when I first got the car. Haven't been able to do it again though. I put my foot into it too often these days.

For anyone getting less then 30 mpg that is a non-svt check your parking brake and get the upgraded one. I ended up riding for a year to notice a 50% increase in gas milege. I had to fill up twice to get from Ottawa to Toronto - 400-450 - km. Anyways, I get there and have a 1/4 tank left now. It pissed me off that I spent twice on gas for entire year. This is one thing that you should check as soon as you get any contour.

Worst I ever did on a tank was 13.8 mpg towing a 1200 lb trailer for half a tank at highway speeds.
Best I ever did was cruise control for the whole tank, average 70 mph, 31.3 mpg with 2 people and a full trunk of luggage.
Average over the life of the car (I track it in a big spreadsheet) is 20.6 mpg on 91 octane gas.
All mpg measurements are adjusted for your U.S. gallons.
The EPA fuel economy ratings, for our cars, were 24 city/35 hwy (Imperial gallons) or 20 city/29 highway (U.S. gallons).
My average fuel cost over the life of the car, at the prices I have paid for gas, is 8.1 cents (Cdn $) per km, or approximately 8.2 cents per mile (US $).
1.0 gal US = 0.83 gal Imperial
