If this is an MTX-75, the bell housing is not right for the Duratec. If you look at the Bell housing picture, the starter would go on the engine side of the bell housing.
Unless I am wrong, IIRC, the starter goes on the transmission side of the Bell housing, between the battery and the Brake Master cylinder. Unless that is just the way it works for automatic transmissions. But it looks like the way it is set up, the started would never clear the side of the Duratec engine block.
This *might* be for a Zetec engine....

Magnesium is a great ligth weight metal....but extremly volital at high heat. I wouldn't want this on my car. In my opinion of course.
I Read about some guy in road and track that built an all Magnesium race car and DID NOT put seat belts...he would rather be thrown from the car, then die in a raging fire because of how fast Magnesium burns...givin this is only a transmission, but just how close is it to you tank and fuel lines....I know thinking about it is bad...but its a reality when people use this metal.

LMFAO
Damn, there goes that idea!
I have heard from a reliable source that if this wasn't from across the pond then it isn't worth looking into.

No...sorry i should have been more descriptive...i meant in a accident....If anyhting were to catch fire in the engine bay, and the magnisum of the trans were to catch, it would burn uncontrolably and since the trans is the closest part to the fire wall, that is bad....but it is a great way to save weight

Where do you think the term "Mags" for wheels came from?? It was those old cabbage shredders and other style wheels made out of magnesium in the 60's. (I wasn't even born 'till '79 )
