I dunno what to tell you about the speedo, but I've had a similar problem w/ the ATX in my van. It would shift so hard into second it would chirp the tires (that was kinda fun, actually
). I took it into Pontiac and it ended up being something called a "PC Solenoid". Now I don't know if that thing's universal to all ATXs or not, but maybe that could be the cause.
