Just finished the UIM/LIM cleaning job, got everything back together. The car is running, but I'm getting this 'horn' noise. It happens from when I let off till I'm back on the throttle. Thought it was the air filter box, but I took it off and it's still there. Somebody please tell me where it might be coming from.

Sounds like moosing, check the how-to's and try that fix. Hopefully, that will take of it. i had the same thing when I switched intakes.

I thought that the moosing was accompanied with stalling, which I am not experiencing. This one has me scratching my head. I did the secondaries mod, adjusting the stop screw to keep them open a little. I thought that maybe that was creating turbulance in the passages. But with the noise 'on', I manually opened the secondaries, and there was no change in the sound. Then I thought maybe I got a gasket leak, but it's pretty hard to screw that up. I'll be eating those words later. I'll try the moosing fix. Keep you posted.

I don't think stalling has anything to do with moosing.

I've had the moose problem with & without stalling.I'm replacing my IAC valve as since cleaning it it makes a strange noise & causes moosing!!(Even turning on the A/C causes it to make this noise) Did you clean your IAC valve? Making the pipe from near the EGR to the intake bellows LONGER cures the moose as well.........

Do you mean the pipe from the bellows to the IAC Dave?

The pipe that is right by the IAC & EGR valve-connects to the main intake bellows.

I have an SVT and my IAC was replaced under warranty a couple of years ago. When I got the car back I had the moosing issue, but not before. It kept doing it and thinking that the only thing being changed was the IAC, I checked the part number. It turned out they had installed the IAC for the standard duratech V6 and not the IAC for the SVT duratech V6.
I set the dealer up of course by asking them if they were sure they put the right part on. They swore up and down they did. Then I called them back after a suitable 20 minutes and said:
"Then how come your parts department lists a different IAC valve for the SVT and the part number on mine matches the standard V6?"

You know how that went.

Anyway, check the part number on the IAC and make sure you order one for the SVT V6 or equivalent as this was the only difference for me. Oh yeah, my car is an early 99 SVT.
