Could somone be so kind as to spell it out for as to what exactly which fuse I need to pull under my hood to reset the computer. I know its 4 and 11 but I am not seeing it. Anyone have a pic or can spell it out for this dummy.
Thanks All!

Have you looked in owner's manual?

Are you looking inside power distribution box?

That box looks nothing like my box and I have checked the manual but am still confused.
Any SVT owners that have done the same thing? I think the boxes are different.

FWIW, in my 1996 Mystique, it is fuses 9 and 11 that you pull to reset the PCM.  The manual labels them as ?EEC Module? and ?EEC Memory? respectively.  Here's the fuse box, with the relevant fuses circled in red:

Pull these fuses to reset the PCM

Moonlight Blue 1996 Mercury Mystique GS , Zetec engine, ATX.  No mods. (Well, OK, one mod.  Before I got rid of my previous car, a 1994 Tempo, I swapped radios.  I liked the Tempo's radio better.  That counts as a mod, doesn't it?  I also kept one of my Tempo's wheels to use as a spare.  I hate those stupid ?compact? spares that come with modern cars.  Does this count as a mod?  If so, I guess I have two mods.  Replaced burned/melted blower switch and connector on 19 February 2002 with a 1P3T toggle switch from Marvac and a Molex connector from Rat Shack; I guess this now makes three mods.)

Can't you also just disconnect the negative battery terminal? Just curious

Yep. That's my prefered method rather than dinking with fuses (my luck I'd break one).

I think the 1999 and 2000 fuse boxes are different from the earlier ones. In any case, your owner's manual should list the fuses and what they go to. On the early ones, there are three fuses that are labeled for the EEC system, 4, 9, and 11. It may be necessary to pull only one of them, but I'm in the habit of pulling 4 and 11.

If you pull the fuses, you will not have to reset the radio station presets or clock, as you will if you disconnect the battery.
