Where did you hook up the 3 wires that were soldered to the plate on the battery terminals? I hope we don't have to run them to the trunk also.

You need to ground the Ground plate to the chassis, right there by mean of a bolt and a clear surface (sand paint back to make a good contact and cover area with spark lug sealant to prevent rusting. The negative of the battery in the trunk you ground out in the trunk.

As for the positive terminal, you need to run your positive cable from the trunk to the front where the battery was originally, and hook it up to the original positive wire through an insulated distribution block.

I just cut them and soldered them to the original under the hood battery ground cable, taped it all and put that tubing stuff around the bundle. Havent had any problems with it like that.

So what is the preferred route for the heavy + wire from the trunk to the engine bay? If exterior, what components is it attached to?

I ran it under the car, on the passenger side, in plastic wire loom, wireties at 6" intervals, attached to existing lines(brake, gas?), and came in the trunk thru existing hole, using a plastic snap grommet to prevent chaffing of the wire, then used a bolt to ground the battery to the frame.

Me too. If you look at the trunk floor on the passenger side, you will see a rubber plug there in the perfect spot if you mount the battery box behind the wheelwell on that side. Use a grommet, run it through the subframe, thread it around the rear suspension and gas tank (make sure nothing moving is near it) run it along the fuel line, above the heat sheilds to the driver side of the engine compartment. then fish it up the firewall, behind the shock tower and to the connection. Thats how I wired mine 1.5 years ago and haven't had any problems.
