I agree that you need to take at least Calc in HS. My Calc I class was crazy, I knew how to do everything and very quickly, and the midterms still took me the full time. My friends who were either not good at it or had not had it were gone. Physics on the other hand, can be picked up right away in the college atmosphere, at least at my poor school. I did not have it in HS but at the first level it is more common sense and illustrated than subjects like Calc and Chemistry.
