hate to tell you but your wrong... my car had rasp when I had my old exaust when I had no res and a dynomax muffler at the end where the stock muffler was.

This makes sense to me...it is my understanding that (with SVT dual type set up) as the flow passes through the main CAT it casuses turbulence through the rest of the piping which manifests itself as rasp as it comes out of the mufflers.
But Eliminating the end mufflers and puting one inplace of the resonator, becasue it is so close to the cat, and the space between the muffler and cat is so close, that there isn;t enough space to produce the rasp (or Turbulence) so you get crisp engine sound....
not thats my understanding.....Its probably way worng knowing my luck...but its the only logical situation I can see....Can anyone else elaborate on this.

So lets say Im gonna gut my pre-cats and go with a off road Y...I know I'll get rasp like a mo-fo...but will putting in a res lessen the sound? I know it will help with the rasp...but will it take away from the overall sound of the exhaust?

but then u'd also end up with a car thats loud as hell
but I guess if u have rasp your car can't be too quiet anyway so it wouldn't really matter

I would reconmend just removing the Mufflers, remove the resonator and place a sinlge Magnaflow Muffler single/dual exahust and put 2 tips at the end. that should eleiminate the Rasp and give you all the sound you want. I am hearing of many people doing this sucessfully and are very happy with the results....I plan to do this eventually....after i pay off my new goodies...hehehe

hey zetec. do you have an aftermarket induction kit or anything like that that influences the "rasp"......cause i know the ZETEC  has a little more of an effect but  .....your tour sounded sweet! and I know when I accelerate I'm hearing the induction rather than the exhaust.  i think.....
