No, you CAN tap the block for the return right above where you would tap it in the pan. I'm gonna tap the block next, when the donk comes out this winter.

So how do you identify on the head where the internal feed stops and the drain begins?

The drain is WAY down near the pan. The feed is form the head - you're getting confused Scott.

I tapped the block for Swazo. If you look at the face of the block that is closest to the front of the car, there is a small ford insignia cast onto the block near where it splits to the separate lower portion of the block. Right where that insignia is, there is a main oil return from the heads. If you tap in there, you can avoid many of the problems associate with tapping the pan.
