Very lucky there was no passenger.
A similar incident occured about a mile from my home in Alabama about 10 years ago, with tragic results.
An older couple in their '85-ish Stanza were motoring along through the dense fog doing maybe 35-45mph when a loose horse happened across their way. It tumbled onto the windshield and roof, squashing it like a tin can and fatally crushing the lady passenger. By some odd stroke of luck, the driver's seatback rake adjustment mechanism broke and allowed him to recline under the force, surviving with moderate injuries.
Farm animals & ashalt...not good bedfellows.
