I was cleaning my '99 Mystique at the local car wash and the pressure from the water removed a piece of "chrome" from the grill. It sticks out like a sore thumb and I am trying to sell the car. The cost of a new grill is $161 plus installation. Anyone know of one laying around that they would like to part with or any other suggestions would be appreciated. Anyway to repair this? What about "chrome" tape? Would take work if I carefully did it?

If its any consolation, the grill on my '99 Mystique is doing exactly the same thing. Everytime I go to the "do it yourself" car wash, another piece of fake "chrome" peels off. I thought about having a body shop sand off the chrome and paint the grill to match the car, like on the Lincoln Mark VIII LSC. I also considered replacing the grille (thanks for providing the price), but with my luck, the day after I put on a shiny new grill, I'd hit a deer on the road and smash it to bits! I guess I'll put up with the cruddy looking grill as long as I can bear, then spring for the $160+ for a new one (providing that the grills are still in production).

You can allways remove the slats sand it smooth and paint it. Then put mesh behind it. Seen it done on this site it was J-LAB's car and it looked good.
