Fuel Filter hasn't been changed... unless the dealer did it at 10k service. Car only has 24k on it. I'm gonna look into it this week

Definately sounds like a spark plug wire or the plug itself. One of the cheaper routes to look at. But get it rectified soon, because if it is misfiring, that means fuel will be making its way to the CAT where it can cause major damage - cause the CAT to overheat and possibly collapse.

I've had the same problem as listed above for quite some time now. Yesterday evening I finally broke down and pulled the fuel pump, removing the screen. Mine was dirty, and I can understand how it would cause a restriction. But, after driving it today, the problem is still there. It even feels a bit worse. I filled up and there was almost no hesitation. So, it looks like I'll be changing my fuel pump. Who knows where I can find an AFFORDABLE returnless fuel pump?

I am having a similar problem. I think its a spark plug wire, at least for now. I have changed 02 sensors, MAF, plugs, a/f ratio to no avail. The wires are Ford Motorsports, but after 37k miles, they might be bad. So I am putting the OEM ones back on, one at a time. Well, atleast once UPS delivers them from another CEGer, I threw mine away.

I had a similar problem & it was my IMRC. I didn't have to replace it though. I removed the face plate & the problem was obvious. If you decide to try this just do a search for IMRC & look for the posts from me. One of them gives a quick explination of how I fixed it & what I saw. Good luck & keep us informed.

Update:
The dealer at first said they could not duplicate the problem and that fuel pressure was normal and the sensors said there was no problem. I insisted they look again, again, and was finally about to get them to let me drive the car for them to show them when they said they were able to find the problem and 'concluded' that I need a new fuel pump, as I had suggested. Now the car has to wait in the shop for the weekend while they get a fuel pump from kansas city - luckily im still under warranty, but I fear for my wallet when the warranty is over - the car only has 24k miles and I've already had a broken clutch line and a busted fuel pump. I understand now why reliability was a major factor of this car's failure commercially. Thanks everyone, and i'll update again once I get the car back to see if it solved the problem without raising any others.

This happened to me over a year ago when the car was under warranty and they replaced the fuel pump and problem solved. Guess what? Now the car has started to do it again and no warranty, but I'm wondering why would this happen again is it a poorly designed fuel pump? can I buy a better performance fuel pump? Is it hard to change the fuel pump yourself?

I first ran into this problem about a year ago. Originally, it would show up after a high g turn when the fuel tank was at 1/8th or so. I've tried to avoid the issue by filling the tank before it got that low, but now it will happen at 1/2 tank and below, getting progressively worse as the tank gets lower. I even had a frightning experience when I took a curved onramp to a freeway at modest speeds, accelerated in a straight line on to the freeway, and had the engine start cutting out, then sputter at 40 mph to the next offramp. Fortunately there was a gas station at the offramp, and after a fill up all went well again. My '99 SE now has 73K miles, so I'm going to bend over and get the fuel pump replaced. I'll post the results after I have it done.

Finally got my car back, same story. Albany ford in the bay area is a pretty thorough, determined service dealer - i didnt think any existed. Car seems to be running great now. Kinda worried about the pump acting up after another 25k mi, though. Oh well.
