Well the tranny will not have to be replaced (can you hear my relief in Michigan?). The mechanic says it is a fork that broke which attaches to the gears(?)(That's is my best interpretation of what the mechanic said). My warranty company may cover it, the adjustor is going to the shop to look at it this week. I should have it back by Friday. I was just thinking about having to buy one of those trannys for sale on the group buy page (Props to slim shady for pointing it out to me).
Terry you don't think the B&M had something to do with this?

B&M would not cause it but I'm a little concerned by the 'fork' discription...the only fork I know of in the trans is the selector fork & to replace it means trans out...never seen one broken yet???

Thanks Terry. I'll post again when I get a better description of the problem. The mechanic said he did have the trans. out and he had found the problem pretty quickly. The selector fork sounds about right from what he described, I'll get a better answer and post again later this week.

I got the car back last night, the repair bill looked like this:
1) New selector shaft Pt# 7358 $28.52 2) Locking bolts (2) Pt# W702421 $6.12 3) Towing $65.00 4) 11.9 hrs labor @ $63.00 hr $749.70 Tax $75.13 Total $959.11 All covered under warranty thank goodness. So after all that it was two cheesy $35.00 parts.
Mechanic offered to change the clutch too but I declined. Hopefully it will hold out a while longer. Cheers.
