I broke the same hose and used the same fix. It held for quite a while but while idling one day the hose let go and exhibited the same symptoms you are describing. Just replace the hose, it only cost me ~$15 CDN for it and took about 10 mins to replace (had to invent an easy-out to remove the broken piece, hence the time).
