I wasn't aware that your car was still under warranty, so obviously troubleshooting info is redundant as dealer will do it.
If you stand at rear of car and operate trunk button on your remote you should hear clunk when solenoid operates. Trunk lid should move up a liitle freeing it from latch and allowing you to open by hand.
In some cases solenoid will operate but trunk lid will not spring up enough to release from latch. I believe decompression of weather stripping is what provides upward force. In the case of my spoiler equipped '98 the additional weight seems to be culprit. Ford sells spring to be installed next to lid latch to pop trunk further up, thereby releasing. I bought mine after warranty, but in your case it should be covered if that is the problem.
If solenoid is repaired under warranty and trunk lid opens satisfactorily you will not get add on spring. My '97, with no spoiler, operates OK without add-on spring.
