If the shifter moves back and forth in the gate easily that is probably the case. If you are mechanically inclined at all, you can see the shifter mechanism under the aircleaner on top of the trans and might bea ble to see what is happening. Might be as simple as a pin came out or something.
Will that also keep it from moving side to side in neutral position?
