Good choice. Double platinums are definitely the way to go with the V6. The Motorcraft double platinums are also a good choice.

No, a plain spark plug socket (with the rubber padding in the middle) will do and is probably better (so you don't cross-thread the plugs). You will also need an extension for the socket. I believe that I used a 6".
