Good thing your friend's name isn't Mike. There are already a few Mike's with SF SVT's around this place!

That's funny. I did a search on the Ford website to find the nearest SVT dealer a few years ago and the only one near me was Bonnell. Musta changed since.

Hey, I just bought the Silver SVT from 128 Ford. The salesman assured me that they were an authorized SVT dealer. I kinda assumed they were with the SVT displays and the gorgeous Yellow Cobra in the show room. In any case, the Contour seems pretty solid despite a few cosmetic fixes that they'll have to take care of before I hand over my down-payment. Just [censored] like broken mesh, only hi on the fan speed works, and some of the interior lights that are out. I'm having them check the alignment and all since that seems to be a common complaint. The most noticeable thing that was wrong with the car was the wiper lever that was snapped off of the steering column! One last thing I was a little surpirsed at was the fact that there was wiring from an old stereo system still fed into the trunk. I don't want to complain, because it saves me a lot of work when i go to install my system, but it does make me wonder how thorough their "complete SVT inspection" is... I'm not sweating it though, I'm bringning it in today so they can put the finishing touches on it before they see a final commitment from me.

My broken fan speed wasn't covered by recall due to model year ('00). This is a blown resistor pack for the fan though. The dealer should fix it. It's easy enough to do (on the wall behing the glove box).

I can't believe someone would try to sell a car with these problems. I thought dealers "fixed up" cars before they sold them. That is why the prices are usually higher because of the overhead of restoring them.

That is strange. Oh well.

its a recall for him. he has a 98.

it could be either a blower motor switch (Recall 01M07)
or
it could be the resistor pack as you are suggesting (Recall 01S22)
