I can tell you that both my cones are very well seated and very tight. Clean as if new inside. Not sure if the cone was stainless if it solve the problem? Galvanic currents maybe between the aluminum and the anodized steel cone. No idea what the coating is? I'm assuming this could be enough to loosen the cone? Corrosion. Never having done any lab tests involving dissimilar metals, I have heard that it is possible that the corrosion material is mixing with the coolant. I solution as to be invisible. So all we see is the cone becoming loose.

The Dex-cool type antifreeze (drained) looked as clear as new from two years ago. The only thing that bugs me is the grease that was drooling out of the shaft??
