Ive noticed this as well with 2000 Focus Se wagon. I think it has more to do with the spring rate on the TB than weight. The pedal is easier in the Focus than my 95 tour. the focus does accelerate faster and that may be becuase of weight (although my wagon is alot bigger than my tour you figure it out) if you look under the hood of both at the same time you can litreaaly pick out at least 10 weight reductions off the motor that alos made it cheaper to make. Like my 95 tour has aluminum TB and my focus has a plastic. All that B.S. intake crap on the Tour is not there on the Focus plus a lot of other things.I dont know what the HO rating if the 95 tour/mystique is but the Focus is 130 at the crank which i belive is a little more than the tour. as far as spinning tires i cant do that in my focus anymore. all it has is a Short ram but i upgraded the tires to Yokohoma Advin V4 205/55/15 which are wider than stock they grip and dont spin at all but before i could barley take off with out wheel spin and yes it and ATX. The brakes are lot better too.
