I just got my Contour and the first thing that's gotta change is the sound system. The speakers aren't too bad, but the tape deck is a problem and I would like to add a sub. What does everyone have that isn't too extreme and doesn't cost a fortune? Also, what's the best way to install a small sub (preferably out of the way)?

I see you're somewhat of an audio nut... especially wth your first and only post being in the audio forum..

Give us a budget, and we'll be glad to help you out.

It's not really that I'm an audio nut, thats just the first thing i wanna focus on. (Next I'm hoping to take care of my exhaust) I don't really have a set limit for the stereo project, but I hope I can just do it in steps. I would say total that I wouldnt like to spend more than about $400 ($500 is a pretty firm limit.)

well that is a pretty tight budget for a new cd player, a sub, and an amp. With that being said you can get yourself a nice system for that price.

Pioneer, JVC, Kenwood, possibly entry level alpine is best bet for CD players.

Sub: Stryke Audio 10 or 12 ($140 for 12"), Lambda LE 10 or 12 (use to be $79 for 10, 84 for 12...however they may have gone up)
Amp: JBL 600.1 (~200 from ikesound)

Build your own enclosure.

or else you could get one of the infinity basslinks for like $250 that has a 10" sub and a 100 watt amp built in.

Wiring from knuconeptz.com (hes a contour.org member and has good wiring)
