That being said, effedra can be a great and safe weight loss aid. The mainstream media and many politicians have been doing their best to demonize and ban thermogenic supplements following the tragic death of Baltimore Orioles pitcher Steve Bechler. Of course, they do not mention that he should never have taken effedra in the first place due to a history of hypertension, heat illness episodes, and liver problems. It is also believed that in the process of trying to drop weight fast, he hadn't eaten in a few days and was working out around the clock. I believe I read somewhere that last year more people died from water poisoning than effedra. Almost every case of death was a result of abuse.

Safe!!!

I agree that the media and politicians like to blow things out of proportion, but I don't think I would call ephedrine safe! Where did you get your research from saying that ephedrine was safe? Maybe EAS or the other supplement companies that produce the products.

I am a personal trainer and have witnessed 2 heart attacks that were caused by overuse of ephedrine. One guy from my Gym, who I told to lay off the ephedrine, died about a month ago from overuse of ephedrine.

Anything that messes with your nervous system and causes overstimulization of the adrenal glands doesn't sound that safe to me.

By the way Carbs are not a bad thing. They are one of the best sources of energy for your body. Insufficient energy from lack of carbs means that protein will not be used for muscle(the fat burning machinery of the body),it will go for energy. Just Remeber NOT ALL CARBOHYDRATES ARE CREATED EQUALLY.
