No, carbohydrates get broken down into sugar by digestion. The pure sugar in Slim Fast is the simplest form of a carbohydrate and therefore is the first thing to get stored as fat when it isn't metabolized. Whereas, a complex carb has to be digested more, making it a longer lasting energy source that doesn't get stored as fat within less than an hour after consumption, like the sugar in Slim Fast does.

OK, I'll admit to be completely ignorant on any of this, is Stacker2 (or3) epedrine? What level of risk is there in short term use, say a few months? I never thought this stuff would actually work, but if it does with only a small risk, I might look into it, I'd like to drop about 15-20 lbs, would this be a good option in the opinion of the CEG health people?

I have been taking Stacker2 for about a month. Along with a low carb diet, I have lost 15 pounds. Take one after every meal (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). I have also been on a low carb diet as well.

I hate to keep getting off the subject of ephedrine, ephedra, and Ma Huang, but its time for a short lesson in organic chemistry.

Carbohydrates are organic compounds that usually contain carbon, hydrogen and oxygen in the ratios: 1 Carbon: 2 Hydrogens: 1 Oxygen.

Sugars are compounds of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen are what make up CARBOHYDRATES
Encyclopedia definition of Sugar

By pure sugar, I'm assuming you mean sucrose. Good point about the sucrose. It causes a rapid insulin spike and drop, making your body more likely to store body fat.

However, I must disagree with your complex carbohydrate theory. Your'e telling me to stay away from raw fruits and vegetables(simple carbohydrates.)

There are good and bad simple and complex carbohydrates. Consult a glycemic index and stay away from carbohydrates with a rating of 50 or higher.
zipped glycemic index
Notice most COMPLEX CARBOHYDRATES are over 50 and will cause a dramatic insulin spike after the body can finally break down and assimilate the starches.
By the way, a large potatoe(complex carbohydrate) is equal to 1 cup of sugar.

One more thing. For all you low carbohydrate dieters, carbohydrates store water. When eleminating the carboydrates from your diet, your body will eleminate some of your water weight. Ephedra is also a dieuretic that will get your body to loose water weight. Just drink more water to loose water weight!!! The lack of carbohydrates means protein will need to go towards energy and not fat burning muscle. So the weight loss is mostly water, some muscle loss, and a little body fat. It also slows your metabolism and is harder on your kidneys when you have to increase the protein to prevent muscle atrophy.Increased protein also means calcium depletion will occur.
The weight scale you use to measure results cannot tell you the difference between 10lbs of water and 10lbs of cement. In other words it won't tell you if your losing bodyfat, water, muscle, etc. Go by how you feel, look, how your clothes fit, measurements, and body fat testing.
Just something to think about before you jump on the low carbohydrate bandwagon.

The low carb stuff kills your energy levels, it makes you feel like a slug. The correct way is to get plenty of carbs, but to get the right ones at the right time of the day. Complex carbs in the morning to power you all throught out the day; a good amount of complex carbs before you workout so your body doesn't give out before the end of the workout; then a large dose of simple carbs after working out for your body to use to immediately replenish and repair itself; then a good fiberous carb right before bed to keep you metabolizing through out the night. Of course this all goes out the window if you don't work out, but in that case no amount of dieting is gonna help you anyways...

Your right.
Dieting and working out go hand in hand. Diet is more than half your results. You really are what you eat

Supplements are a great way of supplementing your diet(multi-vitamins, essential fats, protein powder, etc.) They should not take the place of nutrient dense foods and good old fashion work!!

I have been eating low carbs and eating better quantities of food. I was amazed what had carbs in it. A pint of skim-milk has like 16 carbs in it. Crazy. I have not cut them out, but I try to stay below 20-30 daily. I have been doing this for a month now and I have lost about 12 lbs or so. The only real problem is eating outside of the home. What the hell can I eat? I will get salads, but they aren't convenient. A subway sandwich has like 48 carbs... It is a real PITA. Oh well, it is working.

BTW- Screw diet pills, as they are all bad for you in some way. Try this diet- Eat Better, eat less- that is the way. Crystal Methamphetimine is made with the ephedra/psuedo-ephedra that is in those Stackers. Maybe just try the crack-diet. Or maybe the Heroin diet. Weight loss is proven!

Eating less isn't the answer, instead just spread the meals out over more time...6 meals a day is the best situation, but it's hard to schedule. If you eat less, you will lose weight, but it's from your body canabalizing your muscle for engergy. And without that muscle, your body has a harder time metabolizing.
