I have a 98 SE with an automatic trans and 2.0L engine. Before I owned the car, it was hit in the front left. There somewhat more road vibration than I think there should be. It's not tire related. I had the alignment done and the car drives straight. A Ford service manual says the excess vibration can be caused by the engine not being properly aligned.

So, just for kicks I checked the subframe alignment by sticking my finger in the alignment holes and noticed that the left side is off by about 1/8 - 1/4 inch.

Will this amount affect the engine/trans alignment enough to make a difference? If I align the subframe, will it throw off my wheel alignment ?
