My 'stique goes in for the warped dash recall friday. I would like to know from people who had this done about how long it takes. I would really like to know how long I'll be without my car. frown

I had my 2000 SVT in the dealer for a hole in my hydraulic clutch line. While it was there I had them look at the bubbles in the dash. Luckly they stock them so they are installing a new dash tomorrow. It should be done in the late afternoon.

My dealership replaced the dash in 1 day, However it took 8 month's to get the new dash. Ford insisted the dealership NOT use any dash's they may have in stock because they were DEFECTIVE, it took so long to get a new one because Ford was having new dash's made that used a different material. However your dealership may have the new dash's in, I would check on that or you will be going through it all over again.

I'm arguing with them now about my dash. They (Valley Lencoln Ford) about the dash. They said it was not bad enuff to fix yet. That the recall is good for another year, and if it warps real bad during that time that they would fix it. I think that is a lot of BS.

The recall, actually a "service bulletin" kind of thing, ends in August of this year.

I'm waiting for the part to arrive as well. The dealer says they've done enough of them now that the techs have the actual job down to a half-day.

Mine took just a few hours. The bulletin says that if there is more than two inches (I think) of separation between the dash and the substrate they're supposed to replace the dash, otherwise they're supposed to just reglue it and add an additional plastic piece of trim on the front of it. Sounds like some places are just going ahead with new dashes though...I wish that's what my dealer did. Oh well.

I had my dash repaired on my Mystique a couple of weeks ago. The service manager swore they were going to replace the whole dash. He said they hadn't had good luck with the glue "fix", and as a matter of policy they replaced every dash regardless of the severity of the warpage. He assured me they could do it in four hours since they had replaced so many. Lo and behold, two hours after I dropped off the car, the service manager called and said the car was done. When I picked it up, there was the obvious odor of glue, and the black strip had been installed where the dash meets up with the windshield. It looks fine, but I wish the service manager had been straight with me, instead of assuring me that I was going to get a whole new dash. Do these guys think we owners are all a bunch of idiots?
