The secondaries are opened by the IMRC box, right? Are they either open or closed, or do the gradually open, ie. open 25%, open 50%, etc.?

Stock position is closed for all electric IMRC's (96+)

The IMRC is either open or closed. No in between.

The reason I ask is because I thought it would be cool to have a guage that would show you how far open or closed they are. But, if they are just on/off, you could have some sort of indicator light. I think that would be sort of cool...

I remember a past post where someone put an indicator (lamp) on the dash. The used a microswitch the was bumbed by the linkage when it was open to light the lamp.

In Archives here: IMRC Light

hope this works...

That's exactley the way I was thinking about doing it! I guess there really are no new ideas. Thanks!

I think that's very ridiculous, but whatever floats your boat man.

demon actually you'de be surprised how interesting it IS to drive with the secondary indicator light... they can do some funky stuff sometimes. I've driven in a cougar with one of these and i found that in 3k - 4k rpm band sometimes you'de think the secondaries should be open but they are not.

the funny thing, the LIM that how-to was written from is now in my possesion with the secondaries... removed

I think that the light idea is cool... but I can ALWAYS hear when they are open... intake gets much meaner sounding.

Actually nothing about the IMRC will surprise me.

I can tell you exactly how they act at any time or rpm or even throttle position if you ask.

I also think that having a "light" to tell you they are open is "bling, bling" silly!

If you were actually going to use this information for tuning or anything related to performance or tuning or etc...
I would just tell you to datalog it with Alex Pepper's OBD-II setup since it's one of the countless features available with Manufacturer's Enhanced Login.
This way you can plot the IMRC activation in real time against any other data points you would like (Which I have done ad nauseam) instead of watching another silly light on the dash board.
