Well, I had been discussing with Vortech my options of replacing my shaft (it is fine, but is an original production, so its a matter of time), needless to say they we not helpfull. Upon inspection, the female end is pressed on the actual shaft. Original claims that they were not heat treated properly. Looks like they used harded stainless steel for the female end.

I found my solution to the shaft drive problem, I have a machine shop replacing the end in question and also adding an additional bearing at the end where the two shafts meet (one similar to the case near the pulley.) At any rate this should easily fix the female end problem. Why vortech did not do this in the first place is beyond me as there is room for an additional bearing.

Another thing I noticed about the shaft is that is was not centered inside the outer chasis, I bought mine second hand so maybe this occured from de-installation, but one thing is for sure, if that shaft is not centered, it will cause premature wear due to pressure points on part of the shaft.

BTW I think you are the first to have the male end strip.
