Ok, I think this will help alot of people including myself out, who are contemplating new tires/rims for the summer!!! The average size seems to be 215/45/17, now, what tires to get lays my question??? There have been quite a few ordering off of tires.com lately so I am going to list their tires options in that size and would appreciate some feedback with what to get ect... I am looking to get around 30k out of them if possible, as well as good handling characteristics for under 120 bucks or so. Here is the list:

Hankook Ventus HRII H405
Goodyear Eagle GS-D Import
Nitto NT 450 Extreme Performance
Kumho Ecsta Supra 712
Falken Ziex ZE-512
Hankook Ventus K102
Dunlop SP Sport FM901
Nitto NT NeoGen ZR
Yokohama AVID H4
Falken GR Beta FK-451
BF Goodrich Scorcher T/A ZR
Dunlop Sport 8000
Pirelli P7000 Supersport

They are in order by price starting with 81 bucks for the Hankook's and ending with 122 for the Pirelli's.

Thanks guys, I think this would make a good thread!!!

I myself am getting the Pirelli P7000 Supersports. I read some reviews on it, etc, and most people seem to like them a lot. The only complaint I saw was like 1 or 2 that said it was a little noisy at times. Obviously maybe it was their specific conditions because I heard no other complaints. I also read similar reviews of the Dunlops (I wanted those for a while). All others are decent choices as well. Falkens are up ther eon my list as well.

For what you want to pay, consider the Yoko AVS ES100. They're significantly higher rated than other tires in its price range, including Kumho and FM901 (yuck!).

I like mine quite a bit, even if they lack the razor-sharp responses of the KDW.

225/45/17 (if you're running 17x7 rim)
Falken Azenis...
If you want to OWN in the dry... under 100/tire.

Try your throat will hurt after a 45min highway drive from yelling back and forth to the person in the passenger seat because thats the only way you can carry on a conversation. But hey, below 40mph they are just like any other tire. But if you do highway driving, get a louder stereo and a megaphone.

I just got a set of 215/45/17 Yokohama AVS ES100's as well and really like them. They are much more quiet than the KDW's but a tiny bit louder than Bridgestone Potenza RE730 Gen. 2's. Turn in response seems better than these other tires as well, but I am guessing that is mostly due to the lower aspect ratio. They don't tend to track road grooves as much as the RE730's either (though the RE730's were 225's). I don't know how well they grip yet because I just got them and just haven't driven them too hard yet. Hope this helps some.

The Sumitomo HTRZ II's are in that price range too (got mine from tirerack.com). I have them and they are great for dry or wet (but not snow...) plus they are really quiet going down the road.

I got them in 215/45/17 last summer.

I've owned the P7000 SS and yes they are NOISY! Also, the sidewall on this tire is very soft. I put three "bulges" the size of golfballs in only three months of use w/o hitting any major potholes. Personally, I think there are a lot better tires out there for the money. If you're looking for a performance all-season, look into the Sumitumo HTR+ (IIRC). It has received rave reviews on Tire rack and also by members of the CEG (APT is the first name that comes to mind. Plus, the Sumitumos are cheaper!

Wow, I can't believe my name came up.

I never had the Summitomo HTR+, but have a different model that I am very impressed with which is only availible for smaller rims. It is the HTR 200 summer only, but they are more than acceptable in 4 inches of snow. I didn't even put my BLizzaks on this past winter. For my nice car I have S-03's that are worth every penny.

I did have the P7000 SS on one of my cars and they were okay. Rather hard and not much snow traction is what I remember most, but I did autocross them and abuse them.

The tires only list in that price range would be Yok AVS ES100 and Summitomo HTR+ if you want all-season. All else are inferior IMHO. The only Kumho tire that I have heard great things about is the Victoracer track tire. MX has been getting some good feedback as well, but I don't think it is as good all around as the S-03. Similarly, the only Falkin tire I have heard nothing but good about is the Azenis Sport.

Surprisingly (to me), the new Goodyear F1 GS-D3 has been getting excellent feedback and worth considering.
