Did the 3 SVTs know they were racing?


Hate to say it but rsx t-s don't put down #s that will own any svts unless modified.

Stock 1/4 times for your car are high 14s low 15s - just like the SVT, so what gives?

One SE-R I lost too was an SR20DET Running 9 LBS of boost.. and I only lost by the Lenght of the SER which is shorter than the SVT...yea the guy new how to drive to, he did NOT believe I wasn;t on NOS or FI he was so suprised. SER's are quick, but "owning" an SVT is just Obsured! Same with GTS and RSX S!

Then explain where a car with 200 hp and 142 tq (LOL) at 2800 lbs gets a big enough edge on an SVT to be considered in a "different league"????

Just go to the "racing stories" on one of their boards and you'll understand - t3h [insert import here] c4n n3vAr l0s3!!!!!! (Disclaimer: My wife owns a Celica GT 5-spd. and I don't feel it's in the same league as my Zetec - I may have a slight advantage though )

I still say it'll be celica all the way if the drivers are equal.

Contour SVT..............Celica GTS
3040 lbs.................2500 lbs
200 hp...................180hp
15.2 lb/hp...............13.9 lb/hp
5-spd....................6-spd

Granted the Celica driver would have to wring the hell out of the motor but he should have the edge no matter what the torque is. The SVT might get a jump off the line, but the Celica should be able to recoup that and more in the 1/4.

Also you have a 98 so you are 5 hp less, meaning 15.6 lb/hp.

As I said before I have seen a lightly modded Celica GTS run a 14.2 at close to 100 at Rockingham Dragway.

Say what you want, you'll never meet someone who loves an SVT more than me (ok maybe you will) I was a Contour fanatic. But fact is stock for stock drivers equal I can promise you an RSX- Type S will beat an SVT. I've raced one heavily modded Contour and that was the closest, half a car length. I know you guys are trolling around here so you should speak up.. Mike... The RSX is breaking 14.9's out of the box and guys N/A with about 3000 grand in the high 13's now. The K20A responds like crazy to mods.. CAI 19 hp gain! Thats nuts, and that's mag's test too. Dyno the cars.. How often is a stock SVT putting down 172 -178 at the wheels? Im not a hater just a realist. Throw the torque numbers at me, fine, Launch at 3500 rpms and see who has more wheel hop? Yes an SVT can beat an RSX-TS, but I wouldn't call it a drivers race, and I am not bench racing, i've owned and driven both...

300 extra pounds take away a little more than a 25tq advantage will give us. I will too say that stock vs. stock and driver's being equal, a rsx t-s should edge out the contour by a little bit. Not enough to say that it isn't a driver's race though. That is why some people run 15s and 16s in their WRXs. Driver's skill can play a pretty big role.

BTW, what is the rsx top speed without a limiter?

I got a buddy that hit 15.01 in his stock SVT. You still aren't making any argument dude. Your straight up hatin'. I like the RSX-S, in fact I spent a long time looking at them right before they hit the market. In the end, I couldn't bring myself to pay 24K (the way I wanted it) for that car. Just personal opinion, but you need facts to back up your statements, and saying you smoke every SVT you face just sounds like everybody else with an import talkin'.

SeR guy, if those are NA #'s what do you think an SER running 9lbs of boost could do to an SVT? I want hear your answer because I KNOW lol!
