Uhhh, some of you may not be doin' real well at racing. SVT Contour should destroy a celica GT-S. It has like 180 horses, and significantly less torque than that, like 140 or somethin. It's pathetic.

.... and 500 pounds lighter Maybe you missed the post on the celica forum:

I cant think of 10 N/A SVT's running those times (wheres our "1/4 list"??), they are not as pathetic as you think. I would image these guys all have expirience racing and know how to launch, on the street its a drivers race though.

One thing to keep in mind is those guys are probably running slicks too. A lot of imports don't have tranny woes like us and can get away with launching with slicks on from incredibly high rpms.
But yes, GT-S's are pretty incredible.

Take the rpm's to 6 and dump the clutch he wont get of the line as quick as you, shift so you stay around 5 or mid 5 and he wont catch up

We do have one thing in common - our tranny's give pretty easily. I remember when the GTS first came out without the rev limiter - so many GTS would hit the dealership for warranty work. Go fig - no other market had these problems besides the US...hehe damn American teenage drivers.

Oh yeah - a lot of the celica guys run (nitros, i know we're comparing N/A), BUT - open header, no exhaust, slicks and take everything out of their cars to get those times - i used to go to that site all the time to see what was up.
I think the times posted above - If I remember correctly from when I used to visit that site are from people who did run with some of the mods above for track purposes. But the car will definitly hit 14's with just a couple of bolt ons.
But I think drivers equal and the GTS is in the upper RPMs it's gonna be close. They are SOOOOOOOO freggin light only 2500lb compared to the SVT @ 3110lb. Diff. of 610 lb!
Using a simple quarter-mile calculation with weight and horsepower - they would run high 14's (14.8) and we run low 15's (15.3) - yeah it's not accurate but i felt like bringin' it up.

I just posted the time from a professional driver. C&D have the best drivers test the cars. I know I don't know much about the gt-s but I find it hard to BELIEVE (I am not saying it is impossible) for them to run times like that stock. 14.23, that is a second and a half off of what C&D tested it.

Remember in my earlier post, C&D does not exceed the redline. Probably why they kept falling out of lift. GT-S drivers go WAY beyond the redline when they shift to keep that engine in the powerband. Just look at the dynos to see how much power they make out of lift. Almost nothing. Shift too early and the engine goes back to sleep.

Hate to say it but a Celica GT-S.. Stock Vs. Stock will win everytime drivers being equal. You better be a darn good driver to beat one. I own a 2003 RSX- Type S and they are considered drivers race with my car. I have owned all 3 SVT's I have raced, never met one that was even close, even from a roll. Don't get me wrong I love Contours I still help two of my friends with theirs all the time. But its a different league....
