What do you guys think. There is this guy who works where my g/f does and he thinks he is [censored] hot, it is a stock vs stock. He has a 6 speed, but I don't think it matters, or correct me if I am wrong. He is younger, so most likly I am a better shifter.

It's all about weight advantage w/ those cars. They are light as Hell. I'm trying to find a decent list of 1/4 times for them, but until then here are some dyno plots to mill over: http://www.newcelica.org/other/dyno/index.htm

Here's a 1/4 mile thread from the same board. Should give you an indication what the car can do. That doesn't necessarily mean he's any good behind the wheel, though.

I've taken one with my girlfriend in the car, the guy put up a good fight. . .we were neck to neck until I hit third at 60mph, it was done from there, because in 3rd gear, I had a body length. . .this was before all of my mods, so stock to stock, very comparable. . .but, if he knows how to drive very WELL, then you might be up against something, just don't screw the 2-3 shift, that's what f*&ks most of us. . .

Saw one run at the track and it was running 14.2-3's with autocross sticky tires. I looked for nitrous lines when he had the hood up, but could not see anything out of the ordinary. The guy said he just had I/E done to it. Thats all it looked like to me. The car hooked VERY well off the line. I guess the sticky tires helped in that respect. I would think with street tires they would be high 14's IF the driver knows what he is doing. I would give the edge to the celica, drivers being equal

My best friend has a 2002 GTS - as soon as I get my SVT back we're headin' to the track. But we've driven eachothers cars and he thinks I can take him. I think it would be pretty damn even.

i think you can take him. i raced a gt once and it was pretty close, and you've got an svt to his gt-s.
now officially a troll, i guess. used to have a black 96 SE, until it broke down one too many times.
now I'm hunting for a motorycle.

Looks like a stock CSVT is about a half second faster than a stock Celica GT.
A stock CSVT looks almost a full second slower than a stock Celica GT-S
Drivers being equal & stock vs stock
Oh, the burdons of a 3100lb car!

My money is on the SVT from what I've read. I know a V6 stock Cougar will be about even with a GT-S. 180hp with lighter body vs. 195hp and torque. Pretty close.
