Hello all!
My '96 Contour GL has been making a really odd noise lately..
When i give it enough gas (going uphill, on the highway, or doing ~40 or so) it's fine, but when i am coasting or using very little gas (0~40) it sounds like a fan or vaccum comes on under my hood, and if i don't give it gas then it get's louder..
When i finally speed up the noise shuts off, but when i go slow it's back!?!?! Any ideas?

First, welcome aboard.

Second, you'll have to be a little more specific if you want reasonable chance of assistance. What engine do you have? If noise occurs at idle, open hood and determine the general area of engine it seems to be coming from (front, back, etc.).
V6 prone to have resonating "moose" noise from air intake that will vary in pitch if you squeeze big accordian hose.

Second: I have the Zetec, and the noise seems to be coming from right under my engine(!)...

Some of my friends said it might be a clogged fuel injector or a hole in a vaccum, but i really have no idea... =(
