I ran 14.981 @ 94.73 in the first heat. I ran 14.928 @ 95.35 on a 14.85 dial, and lost with a .229 package to my opponent's .190. My reaction time was NOT .651. Discuss.
This is the second heat run: R/T .205 60' 2.224 330' 6.349 1/8 9.692 MPH 75.34 1000' 12.497 1/4 14.869 MPH 95.64
That's exactly .1 better than my old best, and I think there is another tenth when I actually learn how to launch my car with a decent clutch.

Nice 60', hope the R/T of .205 is a typo Good solid numbers though, and consistant too.

OK I'm trying to get an idea, THIS HELPS, of what my new 3L Hybrid Package will do on my 99SVT. PA is your 3L a Hybrid and what type of work/mods have you done to it? Is the track you're racing on a good, mediocre or bad track?? I haven't really seen to many really outstanding times from a number of the 3L swaps done so far so I'm just a little confused/worried, that's all. Considering that w/the 2.5 before I clocked a best time of 15.1 w/traps as high as 94 on a very bad track (very bad launch pad, strip is at an incline and into wind and is never maintained), one would think that w/your 3L setup your times would be higher, very respectable times and of course I'm sure you have other factors, like me, mods/weather/tuning/track condition that play in as well. The 3L Hybrid built by Rick Blackford known here as Buckshot77, is basically a 3L short w/upgraded crank/rod bearings, fully inspected, 2.5 heads ported and polished, E/I 3&4 angle valve job, 24# injectors, stock SVT cams. I might end up selling the car so it's debateable if I'll extrude hone the UIM and swap out the lower for maybe SHO's setup and install a 65mm TB optimized. The car will be tuned using a Custom Programmed SuperChip and SAFC, other parts that will go on also are the DMD Damper, CTA intake pipe, 73mm CnL MAF (76mm later), large AFE Filter, Fidanza Flywheel, Spec Stage 3 Clutch & Quaife, MSDS Headers mated to Bassani Exhaust.

PX, to my knowledge, nobody has run a 3L tour with significant traction aids, which is the main reason why the 3L tours haven't put down better numbers. The extra TQ of the 3L that can't get it to the ground isn't going to put down much better numbers than a compareable 2.5L that is able to get it to the ground.
My suggestions is to ad slicks and stage-III axles to your mods list and set us all to shame with the 3L NA title.

I don't really have the time to list all of my mods, but look in the profiles on the main page for me (Silver Frost 1998 SVT from PA). It has a current and complete list of mods. EVERYTHING else on the car is stock or stock replacement, including the clutch. About 1/2 tank of gas, no spare or any other extra weight. Probably about 3050 pounds with driver (scale was not on). S-AFC still has not been dyno tuned (just ballparked), so there is some hidden power in there. I can now say that I have proof that the old clutch was holding me back (which I have been whining about for at least a year). I also know that I can get more out of it with some practice. I'm thinking at least 14.75 or so. Weather was excellent (50 - 60 degF, not a cloud in the sky, wind was a little gusty but it was a tailwind). Track was fast and pretty much always is. The groove is anything but straight - that's the only knock on the track, but for cars running our speeds it isn't much of a problem. Now, the NHRA Pro Mod that made a 203 MPH pass for us, he worries about that more than we do I'm sure. Anyway, nobody bit on the first part of my original post, so I'll ask it a different way. The .205 R/T was not a typo, nor was it a foul start. As a matter of fact, I put down a .151 R/T on my bracket pass (hint). I'm still waiting for someone to chime in on how exactly that can be ...

Dunno that much about drag racing, so you won't get any help from me there. Aside from that, good to see you getting deeper and deeper into the 14s. Trap speed looks good enough for you to get a 14.6-14.7 sec run. Honestly, unless the clutch was slipping on the 1-2-3-4 shifts, a new clutch won't help much. Reason? You just pulled off a 2.22 60'. Unless you get some drag radials or slicks, I don't think you'll see any improvement there. Not to say you can't hit a 2.1 60', but it's unlikely. In any case, practice makes perfect, so I expect you to have a 14.7 sec time slip next time you go. -J

Actually, 2.2x sixties are pretty common for me. I'm actually shooting for 2.1 (best is 2.201). The big difference was the clutch slipping at launch (which I thought was wheelhop until yesterday). For example, I launched at 2250 before and still bordered on breaking the clutch loose all through first. Yesterday, I was launching as high as 3000 and hooked HARD. Just gotta get the hang of intentionally slipping it until IMRC opens (i.e. no bog), and I'm golden, as well as launch a bit higher too. Also, the shifts all grabbed noticeably quicker this time out - traps at the 1/8 were ALL higher than ever. It just felt AWESOME - I knew I did sub-15 before I got my first time slip.

That's what I'm thinking. If you just keep your foot on the gas and blip the clutch for your shifts....you should see your times drop by at least .3 seconds!
